Long before the company was founded in 2006, managing director Gabriel Garufo had already made a name for himself as a pioneer in LED technology. Long ago, he used his specialist know-how to lay the groundwork for what has become an international company, in which enthusiasm for light and innovation in the LED technology sector still bring together increasing numbers of employees to this day. We have 30 years of experience and an eventful company history.
“No one believed us when we said that we could make a traffic light using LEDs,” says Gabriel Garufo, remembering his first encounters in the industry. That’s exactly why he accepted the challenge, seeking – successfully – to make the impossible possible. This pioneer in the German LED market founded Garufo GmbH in 1986, producing opto-electronic display systems for road traffic – including the first LED traffic lights.
Eventually, a green light for a visionary outlook: a merger of international LED professionals created the new company ledxon in 2006. Garufo, a true expert, brought his experience from signal technology and applied it to the production of lighting products, primarily modules and components at first. A passion for light seems to be in the Garufos’ DNA, as his son Benjamin is co-founder of the company.
In 2007 the manufacturer entered the market for refrigerated cabinets in supermarkets. To this day, the company is one of the leading experts for refrigerated and non-refrigerated display lighting.
The lamps that the company provides met such high demand that the next logical step was taken almost as a matter of course: the manufacturing company founded its subsidiary ledxon replace in 2010, further expanding its product portfolio. Ledxon therefore became one of the first suppliers in the German-speaking world that offered a full range of LED lamps for electronics wholesale.
These days, the company also has production plants in Poland and China. ledxon has achieved a strong position on the market and demand is rising constantly, particularly in the industrial sector. For this reason another subsidiary was launched in 2013, in the form of ledxon modular.
This family-owned company’s success speaks for itself ledxon celebrated its 10th birthday in 2016. Employees across three sites are committed to the development and production of future-oriented LED products.
The ledxon businesses are growing together, and increasingly focusing on the entire Point of Sale. Interaction between the various product ranges and in-house expertise enables the company to develop integrated lighting concepts focused on the shop and retail sector into the future.
