Since 2017, Epta has relied on ledxon support for the replacement of batten luminaires in refrigerated cabinets. “Here I find the right product for every geometry and the service is also right, explains Robert Roßmann from Epta Customer Service and Sales. ledxon offers project-specific picking of the goods. This means that the exact quantity of light strips required is delivered to the desired supermarket from quantity one. There are no upper limits.

“Thanks to the cooperation with ledxon, we are able to offer our customers in the retail sector optimum solutions when it comes to retrofitting existing refrigeration units with high-quality LED strips,” says Roßmann. Edeka Stenger in Aschaffenburger Südbahnhofstraße had such a retrofit at the beginning of 2019. Together with brother Matthias and father Walter, owner Alexander Stenger operates a total of twelve Edeka stores in the region. A successful conversion therefore offers great potential, as follow-up orders beckon. In addition, Roßmann himself has been a customer in the store for a long time. He has known Alexander Stenger personally for years. It is a matter of honour to do outstanding work here.

When shopping privately, he noticed that old T8 tubes were still being used for convenience products and salads in the refrigerated shelves, some of which had the wrong light colour for the respective products. The deep-freeze islands were illuminated by the existing basic lighting, which was not sufficient, however, to achieve the optimum for product presentation. Since all the refrigeration units in the store are Epta products and there is a maintenance agreement, Roßmann and Stenger soon agreed to retrofit them with LED light strips.

The two Epta technicians installed more than a hundred such light strips from the SCL and MDL product families in the refrigerated cabinets at Edeka Stenger over two days. The SCL in particular was a real hit during operation. The strip, which was specially developed for use in refrigerated and deep-frozen goods displays, has a miniaturised design and a compact, edge-free housing, making it virtually invisible when installed. The result is pleasing. “The new ledxon light makes a great impression,” confirms Alexander Stenger. If the conversion proves successful and the energy balance is right, the other Stenger stores will also benefit from such a conversion if required.
